Starting a TV channel?

Today I was asked how somebody would go about starting a tv channel in the UK (on either freeview or Sky probably). After a good few minutes of thinking I decided that I was totally stumped.

Anyone know where to begin?

Ummm..I am a total noob on this subject...but thinking off the top of my head:

Did you call/email or talk to someone from a local channel about your question?


I would think that someone who wanted to start a tv channel would have lots of money alotted, the right broadcasting equiptment and permission, an experienced crew, sponsers, and a motivation to research to find out what they should base their channel on to attract the most viewers.


But it all starts with $$$ to pay for your needs and experienced people who can give you advice on how to start your channel. I think. Ask Guy. He can give a better response.
