Anyone burning Blu-ray

Supposedly if I shell out for Adobe Premiere Pro I can get Encore and burn Blu-ray high-def videos. Is anyone here already doing that? I was wondering if there were any pitfalls to look out for.

Also, what kind of media do you use? Are there any inkjet printable BD-r discs out there? I have a hard enough time finding BD-r period.

How about Grand Poobah Josh? Have you done any tinkering in preparation for the Blu-ray bandwagon?

Not yet... if I wait long enough, I can bypass the whole HD BluRay DVD thing and just deliver via IP

IP would be nice. I'd never have to go anywhere or worry about disc compatibility. But I have a feeling most bridal clients are going to want something tangible that they can put somewhere safe and have 3 copies of.

I guess I'll have to be the brave new pioneer... damn it. I'm not going to do it until I have a client or two in line to pay for it so maybe someone else will beat me.

I knew it was from total recall, but I'd hoped you were bragging about inside info on a coming software update etc.

Well.. I've just put several items on credit card and our Newegg.com line of credit. I will start experimenting with Blu-ray authoring very soon.

I now have a work-flow. Now I begin to work on getting it down to one computer. Also this morning I learned about brand-spanking new Toast 9 which supposedly allows BDMV Blu-ray disc authoring. Perhaps soon I won't even have to futz around with Windows to get Blu discs out!

More details coming soon.

I'm looking to do the same thing. Blu-Ray burners have dropped to $280 and blank BD-R discs are down to $10 ($8 in quantity), all at Newegg. Could you tell me details of what has worked and what hasn't?

Also, I'm seeing over on DVinfo that Sony is playing around with the format and BD-R won't be supported in set-top players in the future. Even current players seem to need firmware updates to play BD-Rs. More on that here:

Any info appreciated

If you're on a Mac Pro, don't forget that you need an ATA blu-ray burner and not a SATA burner.
