Love the look of the site. You know, Josh and DVCreators has been a trusted educational site for me over the past years. This is where I learned digital editing and was able to make the leap from lineair editing and shooting to newer technologies. As a VO guy with some shooting and editing experience, this team made it possible to generate respectable video work. I will always remember how important you are and how selfless you have been in helping me and countless others that enjoy this forum.

You should consider installing the Classifieds plugin for BuddyPress. Might be a great resource for the community.

  31. Peter Fadde 12 years ago

Will the new format have threaded topics? Shall we continue to use the old forum for discussion topics? I’ll throw out a question here and see if it flies. Also on Sony Vegas topic on old forum.

I have some students in a video class using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum on a trial basis. They like it and I will lobby the university computer lab to buy it later. But I’m not sure how long the trial runs and don’t want students to lose their current projects. Anybody know how long the trial is (can’t find on Sony website)?

    • Josh 12 years ago

Hi Peter, we are going to retire the old forums soon and have them available for searching only. The new forums are better.

  32. Brad Headland 12 years ago

G’Day from Australia. Great to see the new site. Big thanks for DV Kitchen and all the fantastic tools and help we get from you guys!

The man in the shop tells me that the new Sony HXR-NX5P will not go well with FCP 6 running on my iMac 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Can anyone advise me or comment?

Greetings from Philadelphia, I really like the new setup! Looking forward to getting meeting new folks, learning from them, and sharing what I’ve learned.

  37. Rich Stanton 12 years ago

Wow, I can almost type today. LOL! Which leads me to my first question I guess. Will we be able to edit our incoherent posts once they have been posted? The lack of sleep and/or caffeine sometimes lead to less than grammatically correct posts. 😀

    • Josh 12 years ago

      Have more coffee.

      🙂

Good question, do you see “edit” next to your posts? Comments I’m not sure…

  43. duncan knowles 12 years ago

Hi Josh, I learned FCP editing thanks to your dvds. I’ve been away for a few years and I’m glad to see your new site. A question:
Do you have a link to a fully detailed step-by-step “How to” for making the best quality DVD (using FCP, Compressor, DVDSP) shot originally with my new Sony HD camera (HDR-XR520) in HD (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 AVCHD)? My first edited program is 74 minutes with some movement in it. Thanks, Josh! Duncan

    • Josh 12 years ago

Did you shoot in 60i, 30p or 24p?

    • duncan knowles 12 years ago

Hi Josh, thanks for the question. The camera shoots in 1080/60i.

    Hi, just checking the “forum”.
And will take the chance to ask if someone knows of a good place to send to repair 2 wireless sound transmiters.
I live in Costa Rica, and couldn’t find a good place here.
One is a Sennheiser G2 (ew 100, 518-554 Mhz) Which I bought actually at DVeStore almost 2 years ago.
And the other is a Sony UWP-C1 (block 66).
Or should I just give up on them?

If you apply the plugins as the last step, then render everything, they should work great.
