Free Web Video Revolution Seminar

Be there for this once-in-a-lifetime event on Saturday, September 27th in Santa Monica as we share our highly sought-after techniques for publishing high-quality video on the web as well as celebrate the release of our revolutionary new web video publishing tool . . . . . DV Kitchen!

The free two-hour Web Video Revolution Seminar will be presented by Josh Mellicker, one of the pioneers and world’s leading experts in web video.  Josh will be demonstrating the latest tools and techniques for creating amazing looking video on the web and video podcasts (starring DV Kitchen of course!).  You will also learn valuable tips, tricks and timesavers for the entire web video production workflow from shooting through encoding to delivering the video to your audience.

And then, immediately following, join us for food, drinks and festivities as we usher in a new era of web video with the launch of DV Kitchen, the highest quality, easiest-to-use and most advanced web video publishing tool in the world.

Here are some of the topics that we will be covering:

Shooting for the Web

  • a brief overview of things to keep in mind while shooting for better quality footage

Encoding spectacular quality video

Learn to encode stunning, eye-popping, crisp and clear 720p HD video that starts playing within moments after the user clicks the play button, and makes most other web video, not to mention satellite and cable TV feeds, look like crap by comparison.

  • the secret to encoding superb-looking web video
  • codec and format comparison
  • determining the “TOQ”- the ideal bitrate for your video
  • frame size considerations
  • content and bitrate requirements
  • SampleLab™ in DV Kitchen tutorial

Publishing Video

  • video embedded in web pages
  • the secret to uploading a video that plays as high quality H.264 for computers with Quicktime, yet falls back to a Flash FLV for computers that don’t, so you have the best of both worlds: quality, and compatibility
  • larger video windows that pop up from web links
  • immersive, full screen video for an “internet TV” experience, either from from Flash’s fullscreen hardware acceleration or from fullscreen Quicktime movies
  • video in presentations made in Powerpoint, Keynote, etc.
  • video for training or marketing distributed on LANs, DVD-R or CD-R
  • video podcasts, from iPod to HD podcasts
  • video sharing websites
  • the future of internet TV

See you there! web video background:

In the mid-90’s, we became known for being pioneers in video compression for the internet. We compressed the first video for MTV’s website, and got the top brass at Canon interested in web video (we still encode the video on Canon’s website, like this movie).

In 1999, started training companies how to shoot, edit, and encode video for the internet, including Apple, Chiat/Day, Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, Pixar, CNN, most networks and cable channels, most of the Fortune 1000, and most major ad agencies, along with tens of thousands of other organizations and producers in 60 countries around the world. We’re very proud of the leadership role has played in getting so many people and organizations started with video on the web.

This is hot! I cannot make it to your seminar, but I’d really like the info and your input. Can this Free Web Video Revolution Seminar & DV kitchen be built into one of your chunk-a-lized DVD’s? I’d buy it & feel others would as well. I have already purchased Dv Kitchen & like it, but the learning curve is apparent.

    Hi Paul,

Great idea! We are slowly working towards a live training product to accompany DV Kitchen, and the seminar content will be incorporated.

In the meantime, the manual is a good source of info, and I hope I can provide helpful answers in the DV Kitchen forum.

I have never been happy with the quality of recorded events… but maybe we will try.

In the meantime, we will continue to enhance the DV Kitchen manual until it becomes a full-fledged course.
